Power type: Half height module, which needs to be installed in a specially designed slot on the left side of the rack.
Redundant design: The rack can accommodate one or two power sources (any combination of AC and/or DC), and either power source can power the entire rack. The second power supply (if installed) can serve as a backup power source for the main power supply.
Power supply location: When two power supplies are installed in the rack, the lower power supply serves as the main power supply and the upper power supply serves as the backup power supply. Removing or inserting any power module will not interrupt rack operation (as long as a second power supply is installed).
Input voltage: Accepts various input voltages and converts them into voltages that other 3500 modules can use. This includes high voltage AC (220 Vac nominal, 175 to 264 Vac rms, 247 to 373 Vac pk), low voltage AC (110 Vac nominal, 85 to 132 Vac rms, 120 to 188 Vac pk), high voltage DC (88 to 140 Vdc), and low voltage DC (20 to 30 Vdc).
Protection function: For all power supply versions, undervoltage will not damage the power supply or PIM (power input module). However, overvoltage will cause the fuse on the PIM to blow.
