PROFIBUS DP is a high speed multipurpose bus protocol (up to12Mbit/s) for interconnecting field devices, like remote I/O, drives,lowvoltage electrical equipment, and controllers. PROFIBUS DP canbe connected to the AC 800Mvia the CI854A communicationinterface. The Classic CI854A includes two PROFIBUS ports to realizeline redundancy and it also supports PROFIBUS master redundancy.The CI854B is the newPROFIBUS-DP master thatreplaces CI854A innewinstallations.Master redundancyis supported in PROFIBUS-DP communication byusing two CI854A communication interface modules. The masterredundancy can be combinedwith CPU redundancy and CEXbusredundancy(BC810). The modules are mounted on a DIN rail andinterface directly with the S800 I/O system, and other I/O systems aswell, including all PROFIBUS DP/DP-V1 and FOUNDATION Fieldbusproficient systems.The PROFIBUS DP must be terminated atthe two outermost nodes.This is usually done by using connectors with built-in termination. Toguarantee a correctworking termination the connector has to beplugged and power supplied.

CI854A is a PROFIBUS DP communication interface module used to connect AC 800M series controllers. It includes two PROFIBUS ports for line redundancy and also supports PROFIBUS main redundancy. This module is installed on a DIN rail and can be directly connected to the S800 I/O system and other I/O systems, including all PROFIBUS DP/DP – v1 and FOUNDATION fieldbus systems.
