EMERSON A6410 Dual channel valve
The A6410 has a dual channel design and is a 3U sized 1 slot card module. Its cabinet space requirements are halved compared to traditional four channel 6U cards, making it more efficient in space utilization. In addition, it complies with the API 670 standard and is a hot swappable module, which adds flexibility and convenience to its use.
The primary role of the A6410 is to accurately monitor valve position and case expansion. By comparing parameters to alarm setpoints, it can drive alarms and relays, thus reliably protecting the machinery. A measurement of the valve position is a measurement of the position of the main steam inlet valve stem, usually displayed as a percentage opening, which gives the operator an indication of the current turbine load.
The A6410 includes two inductive displacement transducers (or LVDTs) mounted in the axial direction, parallel to the shaft, on either side of the turbine casing. This monitoring is important at startup, as it monitors the proper rate of expansion on either side of the turbine casing. If the sides do not expand freely, the turbine may “bend” (case bending), causing the rotor to collide with the case.
The A6410 also features multiple self tests, including monitoring hardware, power inputs, hardware temperatures, sensor and cable status. It also features fore and aft cushioning and proportional output, supporting 0/4-20 mA outputs and 0 – 10 V outputs. This monitor is used in conjunction with the inductive displacement sensor 9350 for accurate measurements and monitoring.
